Rome Scholars and Leaders Network, June 10-13, 2024

As you read this post, there’s something important happening in Rome, Italy.

This week, the Reformanda Initiative is hosting the seventh edition of its annual Rome Scholars and Leaders Network seminar. The stated purpose of this seminar is “to equip Evangelical leaders and scholars to understand and effectively minister in Roman Catholic contexts throughout the world.”

Speakers include Dr. Leonardo De Chirico, Director of the Reformanda Initiative, Gregg Allison, Rachel Ciano,* Bradley Green, Reid Karr (Associate Director, RI), Matthew Johnston, Lauren Moore, and Clay Kannard (Communications Director, RI).

Please say a prayer that the Lord uses the 2024 Rome Scholars and Leaders Network seminar to equip evangelical influencers to better understand Roman Catholicism so that they may counter ecumenism with Rome in order that Catholics may hear the genuine Gospel of salvation by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. As far as I know, this is the only such annual seminar of its kind in the entire world.

    1. Thanks! I am personally cautious about Ortlund. While he confronts various RC doctrines as being heretical, I am under the impression that he recognizes the RCC as a Christian institution at the bottom line. I could be wrong because it’s been a long time since I engaged his material.

      1. He made the very foolish claim that he recognizes the RCC and now all they need to do is acknowledge evangelicals as a valid church. That’s like saying you acknowledge Mormons or JWs as Christians and are pleading with them to return the favor. He also defends the Real Presence doctrine, which is sort of like a spiritual version of transubstantiation held by the very formal protestant denominations such as Anglicans, Lutherans, Methodists and many Presbyterians. I never understood the need for it or the logic behind it, even coming from the traditional Protestant churches who believe in it, and all of those teach infant baptism (sometimes even infant communion). He claims to be a Reformed Baptist, but I hate how he appears orthodox on one hand, but then affirms or sides with liberal propaganda on a lot of other issues. One of his recent videos seemed to affirm theistic evolution and their theory that “Adam is just humanity as a collective entity rather than a single person” proposed by evolutionary creationists. He even says RCs do real exorcisms and have real fruit in them.

    1. Thanks, Beth! I’m grateful for the ministry of Leonardo De Chirico and his associates at the Reformanda Initiative. Few evangelicals are taking a stand against ecumenism with Rome.
Yes, praise God He freed us from the RCC shackles! πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»β€οΈ
