Truth from Arkansas! Sunday sermon series, #5

It’s Tuesday, my friends, which means two new sermons from the brethren down in Arkansas. First, we have have Pastor Roger Copeland at Northern Hills Baptist Church in Texarkana, exhorting believers to mature in their faith instead of never advancing beyond the baby Christian stage.

Next is a sermon by Pastor Cody Andrews at Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Star City encouraging believers to let their salvation-in-Christ light shine bright instead of hiding it under a basket.

      1. No reading, my friend, just 👂🏻. BTW, the last several days I finally got around to reading and reviewing the five preludes to the Legion launch. The first three were pretty good but the last two were a lot of navel gazing. Posts queued up.

      2. I’ve been reading a regrettable book about the bogus “Holy House of Loreto.” I thought it was going to be good but it’s dry as a bone. Very academic. I’m determined to finish it though. 80 pages done, 170 to go.

      3. A couple of weeks ago I posted a Throwback Thursday about the Holy House of Loreto, Italy. The RCC claims angels flew this small stone house which they say Mary and then Jesus grew up in, from Nazareth to Italy. A totally bogus claim. They built a huge church around this “relic.”

      4. Yup, and I was looking forward to this book examining some of the details of the Loreto house myth, but the academese is so thick that it’s barely readable. The author is young so I’m guessing this is an expanded doctoral dissertation. It’s overloaded with trendy history terminology.

      5. Yeah, they’re pandering to the professors and must use all the “academically correct” terminology. The book is actually reading a bit better in my current section.

  1. I probably only have time to listen to one of the messages tonight after our Bible study, going to pick Pastor Roger Copeland’s sermon and looking forward to it! For now I need to finish my outlines for Psalm 19 to teach tonight!
